What is it? Why is it important? Just as students must know what is expected of them, teachers must be sure to know what is required of them so that they can plan their lessons accordingly. Furthermore, teachers need to be aware of the resources that are provided for them, and how each student is best able to learn. Every student has different needs, so creating lessons that are compatible with many types of students is very important. Additionally, when planning their lessons, teachers must work to establish a flow in their teaching, connecting one lesson to the next. This will help to take students' understanding of the material that they are learning to the next level. What are the key elements involved? Learning activities: In order for students to get the most out of the lessons, teachers must ensure that students are engaged and heavily involved in their learning. Instructional material and resources: When implementing tools into the classroom, teachers must be sure that they are appropriate for the lesson and able to be used by students with different types of needs. Instructional groups: To create a positive classroom environment where students are dedicated to their learning, teachers must be intentional about where they place students in groups. Lesson and unit structure: When teaching, teachers must be that their lessons are coherent, meaning that what has been previously learned connects with and is useful in the new learning. This will ensure that students are truly learning. How will I implement this component into my classroom?
I will be sure to keep students engaged, asking questions and doing hands on activities as much as possible
When possible, I will relate what the students are learning to things that they have already learned or are learning in other classes to help make connections in their brains
I will review school, district, and state standards before preparing lessons to be sure that I am doing what is required of me
