What is Sway? Sway is a Microsoft app that can be used to create presentations, similar to PowerPoint or Prezi. However, Sway does not function as several individual slides as do these other tools. Instead it moves smoothly, allowing its users to scroll through the content of the presentation. When creating a Sway document, you can start from scratch, inputting the desired information in the desired format. In addition, Sway allows you to enter a topic, and they will provide you with possible documents to use. Furthermore, you can upload a preexisting document and transform it into a Sway document. Sway is a very practical tool to use in the classroom, and it is a great way to add variety to the way that presentations look. Danielson Framework and Sway Because Sway can be used to create presentations on any topic, it can align with any component of the Danielson Framework. However, Sway is commonly used as a method for instruction. Because of this, it most closely relates to Domain 3, Instruction, of the Danielson Framework. As a means for teaching and presenting information on a particular topic, sway can also relate to element 1E of the framework, Designing Coherent Instruction.
Using Sway in the Future Because Sway can be used to create presentations on any topic, I will be sure to implement it into my future classroom. I believe the feature that allows you to enter a topic and then choose from a variety of already created sway documents will be extremely helpful and can provide useful information and resources. The smooth flow from one topic to the next is also a benefit. As a whole, Sway is a great tool to implement to avoid overuse of a particular style of presentation which can help keep the students engaged.
