What is it? Why is it important? In both instructional and noninstructional areas of the classroom, it is necessary for teachers to keep records. This means that, among many things, whether or not students completed an assignment and how they are progressing in their learning needs to be recorded. In addition, teachers must keep track of permission slips, money for various occasions, and other noninstructional items that pertain to the classroom. Regardless of the tool that teachers use to maintain records, whether it be through technology or a more traditional means, teachers must stay on top of their records, helping them to be fully aware of classroom happenings as well as providing them with evidence and data should an issue arise. What are they key elements involved? Student completion of assignments: In order for students to be successful, they need to complete the work that teachers give to them. To be sure that this is happening, teachers need to record when students complete an assignment and when they do not, as well as how well the assignment was done. Student progress in learning: Great teachers are aware of how students are doing in their classroom. To get to this level, teachers must record how their students are receiving the lesson. Because each student is different, this task must be taken seriously and done consistently, as it allows teachers to adjust their teaching if necessary. Non-instructional records: Frequently in school, there are permission slips required to be signed or money that is brought in for various reasons. It is a teachers responsibility to keep track of all such items. How will I implement this component into my classroom?
I will find a system for keeping records that works for me
I will be organized and stay on top off record keeping
I will take this responsibility seriously and understand that it is an important part of my job
