What is QR Code Generator? As predictable by its name, QR Code Generator is a site where QR codes can be made. I recently used QR Code Generator to create codes, then uploaded them onto Canva posters for my virtual co-op to use in her classroom as seen to the right. . The code can be made to link to a text, URL, vCard, email, SMS, and more. When using QR Code Generator, I chose to have the QR code link to a URL. By coping and pasting the website into the designated area and then clicking on "create QR code", a QR code was formed. Once created, the code can be downloaded as a JPG, EPS, or SVG, making it easy to access at a later date. From here, one can use the code as desired, scanning it with a phone, tablet, or computer.
Danielson Framework and QR Code Generator Because a QR code can be made to address any topic, QR Code Generator can align with all elements of the Danielson Framework. However, I believe it most closely relates to component 3C, which discusses engaging students in learning. Whether introducing a lesson when students come into the classroom, directing their attention to a specific idea or concept, providing a visual example of the material being learned, or used as a formative assessment, QR codes are helpful in keeping students focused. Furthermore, QR codes relate to component 1D, which addresses knowledge of resources. Because they are digital and can be linked to the internet, QR codes can provide resources, examples, and images that teachers might not otherwise have access to. This allows students to have richer experiences in the classroom, likely contributing to their level of engagement as well.
Using QR Code Generator in the Future As a result of its simplicity and efficiency, I will be sure to use QR Code Generator in my future classroom. In a world where technology is advancing, it is a unique privilege to be able to take my students all over the world through the use of QR codes. When studying a certain book or time period, I can use QR Code Generator to make a code that links to what life looked like then, how people dressed, what people ate, or how families made an income. I love that this gives students the ability to interact with the content being learned on a much closer level, providing them with access to information that they may not have been able to obtain without the use of QR codes.
