What is Peardeck? Many times in the classroom, when teachers ask a question, they would love to hear from all students, but time does not often provide this luxury. With Peardeck, an interactive whiteboard, teachers can create a Google Slides presentation that, when finished, students can have access to using their iPads, computers, or smartphones. All students have to do is go to a site and enter a specific code, and they can then view the presentation. Then, when teachers ask a question, students can respond, write down ideas, draw images and more. When the lesson is finished, teachers can review all of their students' participation, allowing them to assess their progress and see their thoughts.
How Does Peardeck Relate to the Danielson Framework? For teachers, Peardeck can be very useful in creating assessments, which is similar to component 1F of the Danielson Framework. It can be particularly helpful for making formative assessments, giving teachers the opportunity to see how their students are doing and to adjust their plan if necessary, which relates to component 3D and 3E. In addition, Peardeck can be a great way to engage students in the lesson, making them feel comfortable to respond to questions and share their thoughts, which aligns with components 3C, Engaging Students in Learning, and 2A, Creating and Environment of Respect and Rapport, of the Danielson Framework.
Using Peardeck in the Future Because Peardeck can save a lot of time in the classroom through allowing all students to respond to a question at the same time, I will be sure to implement this tool into my future classroom. Furthermore, Peardeck is a great resource to help encourage quieter students to share their thoughts and ideas, which will help me as a teacher to reach out to these students and get to know them better. I also appreciate the fact that Peardeck is compatible with Google Slides, as this makes it simple to use. As a whole, Peardeck is a unique tool that will help me to engage my future students, hear each one of their voices, and get to know each of them better, making it a fantastic resource to implement into my classroom.
