What is it? Why is it important? Arranging the classroom in such a way that all students can see, hear, and participate is very important in creating a positive classroom environment. In addition, teachers must ensure that no wires, cords, desks, chairs or any other materials block the students' walk ways. This will help make the classroom a safe place to be. What are the key elements involved? Safety and accessibility: The safety of students must be a priority in the classroom. They must have clear access to important things in the classroom, such as the board, door, trash can, pencil sharpener, etc. Arrangement of furniture and use of physical resources: The way that the classroom is arranged contributes to the learning of the students. An effective classroom set up, along with an efficient use of the available resources, helps promote a culture for learning. How will I implement this component into my classroom?
On discussion days, I will arrange the classroom in a circular shape so that students can see, hear, and interact with one another more clearly.
I will be sure to place classroom materials in easily accessible areas in the room.
Before implementing a certain classroom layout, I will walk through it and make sure that students will be able to move freely throughout the room.
